1. Tell me a little about you.
I grew up in Lake Chelan and went to college at Gonzaga University. I majored in Special Education and Elementary Education. I taught special education preschool for Spokane public schools and loved every minute. I also received my masters from Gonzaga in Functional Analysis. I married a Spokane boy and we decided to move home and run our family business. After we moved back to Lake Chelan, we had two children. We are involved in our community and help with many youth sports.
2. What is the most poignant moment or time in your life where you showed resilience?
I received a diagnosis of Lupus only a month after I was married. Having an autoimmune disorder is not easy to deal with daily, but I decided then and there to not let it control me. Since my diagnosis, I have also received a diagnosis of Hereditary Hemochromatosis, a blood disorder.
3. How did that moment shape your life?
With auto immune disorders, people cannot see a difference in you or how much you are suffering. These health issues helped shape who I am today. I am determined to push past limitations and focus on my health. I try to find natural solutions to help my health, like exercising daily. This has also led me to become a virtual health and fitness coach to a team of women.
4. What tips do you have for those in need of hope?
Lean on the Lord and trust His path for you, daily personal development, be real and vulnerable in who you are and what you are experiencing because you never know who it will help. Lean on your family and friends.
